🙌✨ Today our Freshman Class of 2029 met their Mentors — upperclassmen who have volunteered to guide and support them as they begin their high school journey! 💬🤝 Students enjoyed icebreaker questions, shared snacks 🍪🥤, and worked together to add a brand-new Commitment to Graduate Mural 🎨🖐️. 📅 Report Cards will be distributed during Open House on October 15 from 12–3 PM.

📢 Reminder: Early Dismissal tomorrow, September 17th, at 11:30 AM! 📢

The application for the JumpStart Afterhours program is now open to St. Landry public high school students. Students will only be allowed to participate in one session for the after-school program. Students will earn up to $1,000.00 for all programs listed and a Carnegie credit. Some may earn more depending on the program.
The application will close on September 26, 2025. Students will be notified if their application was received, and will receive notification of acceptance within three weeks of the close of the application.

Programs are contingent on enrollment. Students MUST have reliable transportation (unless a class is virtual) and must commit to the 138 hours.

Orientation and further instructions will be forwarded to students at their school email addresses. Please reach out to tellender@slpsb.org for more information or questions.

🔬 Mr. Preston’s Biology II class kicked off their dissection lab today with the earthworm specimen! Seniors had the chance to dive deeper into anatomy through this hands-on learning experience. 🪱📚

🇺🇸 Congratulations to MACA’s own Benjamin J.! 🎉

Ben officially signed with the National Guard yesterday! After scoring extremely high on the ASVAB, he qualified for every MOS and chose his path with confidence. He’ll serve one weekend a month and two weeks each summer while pursuing his IT/Computer Science degree at UL Lafayette.

MACA is proud to celebrate Ben’s commitment to both his education and our nation! 🌟

🚀🤖MACA Robotics class students participated in competitions based on their understanding of engineering, momentum, and friction!
1️⃣ In the first competition student's robots had to come to a stop before hitting a wall.
2️⃣ The second assessment was on going the furthest in a straight line.
3️⃣ The third was an all out race to the finish line. 🏁
The Robotics students will continue to assemble and code their robots to complete various tasks throughout the beginning of the school year. 💡🔧💻
